SOLD Vintage Clovis Ruffin Ruffinwear Black and White Jumpsuit 1970s

Vintage Clovis Ruffin Ruffinwear, black and white jersey jumpsuit from the 1970s. Sleek black jersey jumpsuit with a plunge neckline, ties at the front, cased elastic waist and long full legs. The sleeves are full and elbow length with narrow and wide white stripes. The fabric is mate crepe poly jersey, its silky and light weight.
Clovis Ruffin had his first major show of a collection in 1972, and the next year he became the youngest designer to win a Coty award. His early designs for his company Ruffinwear were aimed at young women, he helped focus the fashion industry`s attention on young women who had grown up in blue jeans and were looking for youthful, carefree, affordable clothes as they began entering the work force. He was also among the first designers extensively employing black models, whose flair for the runway he praised.
