Vintage Bernard Perris Paris Demi Couture Navy Blue Nautical Dress 1980s

"What has been mainly distinctive of my work is an atmosphere of high standard elegance with a glance to independence of mind and fun toward "les ideés reçues." I have been many times called the most "couturier" of the "createurs," probably because my line was more a nouvelle couture than a deluxe RTW. As everyone, I have a double personality and am reflecting the influence of the "austerité" and "grandeur" of a Balenciaga, as well as the "glamour," "sexy touch," and "joie de vivre" of a Jacques Fath," Bernard Perris. His design credentials are legendary, assistant to Marc Bohan, assistant designer at Guy Laroche, 1960-61; designer at Jacques Heim, 1961-63; designer, Dior, 1963 and hired by Jean-Louis Scherrer as head designer, 1994. He was very successful in America in the big spending 80s opening a shop on Madison Ave. in New York, his flashy well made clothing appealing to the style elite.
Vintage Bernard Perris Paris demi couture navy blue fitted, nautical influenced dress from the 1980s. Strong shoulder with a fitted torso and fitted skirt that tapers to the hem, with center back hem vent. The upper bodice features a square neckline, the shoulders are extended with pads, the arm openings are deep, there are gathers under the bust, the bodice and sleeves are trimmed with cream wool twill and navy blue leather bands. An empire waist with fitted torso skims the body, open hip pockets at each side, the skirt is fitted and tapers to the hem. The bodice is unlined with finished seams, the skirt is lined in navy silk. This dress has been professionally let out from the waist to the pocket tops. The original shoulder pads are in place but the contents have disintegrated so if you are into the original shape new pads will be in order, this looks great with a long sleeve striped shirt worn underneath. Fits like a small.
In excellent wearable condition. All our clothing is dry cleaned and inspected for condition and is ready to wear. Any condition issues will be noted. For visual comparison our mannequin is a size 4.
