1930s Blue Pinch Pleated Raw Silk Couture Evening Gown
1930s Blue Pinch Pleated Raw Silk Couture Evening Gown. Completely hand made this unusual gown was certainly made for a special event! The blue has a lot of depth, light and luster, the use of the raw silk, pleated as it is, is quite unique. I would call this a classic empire shape with the, at the time, modern addition of spaghetti straps. The bust is fitted the top trimmed with a narrow ruffle band of self fabric all the raw facings are hand finished. The upper torso is hand gathered to take in the volume and shapes the waist, the skirt falls to the hem in soft folds of pleated fabric. The dress closes at the back with a handset painted metal zipper. The dress is unlined. There is enough fabric in the shoulder strap to lengthen a bit if necessary. Fits like a modern size 4, the bust measures 34".
In excellent wearable condition. All our clothing is dry cleaned and inspected for condition and is ready to wear. Any condition issues will be noted. For visual comparison our mannequin is a size 4.
