Actress, Ruth Gordon won an Oscar for her role in the 1986 movie "Rosemary's Baby...She was a avid couture client of top designers like Chanel and Dior...Mainbocher made clothing for her to wear on and off the stage...This dress dated 1946 is of black crepe and veiling net...The dress features a fitted strapless bodice with a seamed waist...The long skirt is gathered at the waist front and fitted at the waist back, the skirt is a bit shorter in the front and longer in the back...The bodice has an attached halter of decorative veiling net in black with a neck band of blue picot edged silk ribbon, there is a matching decorative ribbon trim at the bust front and a belt of the same picot edge silk ribbon...The dress closes at the back with a metal zipper and hook and eyes at the neck back...Together with the matching hood of net that gathers at the back and drapes over the shoulders, there is a matching ribbon bow at the back...Both pieces are labeled Mainbocher...The hood has a small split in the net at the bottom edge...There is a small split in the net at each front arm, all could be repaired...Fits like a size 4, small
