Hattie Carneige Custom couture made strapless cream guipure lace and pink silk wedding or cocktail dress from the 1950s. This gorgeous dress is handmade and a beautiful example of Carnegie's custom work, possibly designed by Gustave Tassell in the early 1950s. It is a confection to be sure. Cream guipure lace especially woven in a single width gives this dress a finished scallop at the bodice and hem. The bodice of hot pink raw silk is pleated and draped to accent the bust. The dress is fitted with vertical seams at the waist and back, the back pleats add fullness at the center back skirt. The skirt has a bell shape. The inside construction is a masterpiece, the boned corset and lining of off white silk organza. The dress has an attached organza petticoat and a tulle petticoat. The lace is backed and hand sewn in fine tulle. The dress closes with a metal zipper inside and hidden snaps and hooks in the lace. It fits a size 2 best. There is a repair to the bottom of the interior corset at the waist, professionally done it is not seen. In excellent wearable condition. All our clothing is dry cleaned and inspected for condition and is ready to wear. Any condition issues will be noted...For visual comparison our mannequin is a size 4
