1940s Handmade champagne silk hand embroidered in silk, bishop sleeve robe. Sophisticated robe that would have been at home worn by Katherine Hepburn. It has a tailored style as opposed to fluffy girly. Very long full bishop sleeves are densely gathered at the tops, sleeves have mother of pearl button cuffs with hand made loops, one loop has been remade. A round collar at the neck is embroidered with a double row of white scalloping. The top features a yoke front and back with significant gathering below, giving the robe fullness to the hem. The robe closes at the front neck to hem with mother of pearl buttons, there is a double row of embroidered scalloping along the facing vertically. Unlined. Interior features French seams. In very good condition for its age, with a few minor very light marks.It has been hand laundered and is ready to wear. It looks wonderful worn with a belt as a dress. Fits a size medium.
