Halston iconic clouds dress in stormy grey & cream with iridescent sequins from the mid 1970s. This dress is unusual as the grey is a bit darker than the dove gray that is seen more often, not that the dress turns up that frequently! Such a concept dress for it's day, Halston was at the forefront of so many fashion firsts that have gone on to become fashion classics. His sequin dresses are like glittering water, the technique he developed, laying iridescent clear sequins flat, side by side in rows, allowed the light to refract from every angle. Most sequins overlap in patterns. The dress is silky creamy jersey, the clouds are printed on this fabric and the sequins are sewn over the top, the iridescence catching & reflecting every bit of light & dazzling colour. The design is simple, elegant & sexy, low scoop neck with cap sleeves that emphasize the shoulder and lengthen the arm, the dress skims the body in an A line shape that flares at the hem. The dress has a very light interfacing (not seen) that holds the shape of the dress. There is a side zipper closure. In very good vintage condition, there are some missing sequins along the inside edge of both arm openings, I look at this as a plus because you will miss the scratch of sequins under your arms, but extra sequins can be found in the hem lining. This dress fits like a size 4. A perfect addition to your Halston collection.
