Pierre Balmain Haute Couture pieced silk chiffon vibrant floral dress and sash. Silk chiffon fabric has been intricately worked into a piece of art. The bodice and sleeves are cut from the whole fabric, the skirt is composed of hand cut and turned flowers that are painstakingly sewn together to form a single piece for the skirt, it is only upon close inspection that you realize it is not a single piece of fabric, see closeup photos. The dress features a deep V neckline, long sheer sleeves with zipper cuffs and a semi fitted A line bias flare hem dress, the hem is bound and finished in a narrow border, together with the original silk waist sash/wrap. The dress is lined in pale nude silk crepe back satin, the sleeves are unlined. The dress and lining each close with painted metal zippers, with hook and eye at the dress neck back. This beautiful dress is from the early 1980s. Fits like a modern size 10-12.
